A MAN has been jailed for an effective 12 months after he mutilated his wife’s genitalia with a razor blade during a domestic dispute sparked by allegations of infidelity.

The horrifying attack happened on June 21, at a farm in Bindura.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the man first pretended he wanted to make love before suddenly turning violent.

“On the 21st of June 2026 at a Farm in Bindura, the offender assaulted his 42-year-old wife, following an argument over alleged infidelity.

“The offender pretended to want to be intimate with the victim before grabbing her private part and cutting it off with a razor blade.

“After the attack, he gave the victim water to wash herself as she bled profusely,” said the NPAZ in a statement.

The victim was left in agony as blood poured from her injuries while the man calmly handed her water to wash herself.

He appeared before the Bindura Magistrates’ Court, where he pleaded guilty to domestic violence involving physical abuse as defined under the Domestic Violence Act.

“He was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment, with 6 months suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour, leaving an effective 12-month prison term,” said the NPAZ.

The prosecuting authority said the courts would continue taking a tough stance against gender-based violence.

“The justice system will continue to protect victims and ensure that perpetrators are held fully accountable.”

The case, said the NPAZ, is yet another reminder of the horrific abuse that can happen behind closed doors.

The authority urged victims of domestic violence to report abuse before it turns deadly.
