Husband suffocates wife

alleged to have suffocated his 54-year-old wife Rachel after she woke him up several times during the night. After the alleged killing he went back to bed and even later went to work before reporting her death at their home in Vernon Hills, Illinois.
Prosecutors said Stolberg (47), held his wife face-down on the ground with such force that she suffocated. “He pushed her so hard her teeth bit into her lips,” said Lake County State’s Attorney Steve Scheller. Stolberg told authorities he was angry with his wife for waking him up several times the previous night. After being disturbed again he is alleged to have rowed with his wife before attacking her. Stolberg slept while his wife’s body lay on the floor next to the bed. Prosecutors said when he got up in the morning noticed that his wife’s hands were blue, but continued with his daily routine and went to work. Returning later in the day he fixed himself a meal going into the bedroom and rolling over his wife’s body. Stolberg called his mother and waited for her to arrive and then told her his wife was dead, according to prosecutor Scheller. An autopsy revealed that Mrs Stolberg died from asphyxiation.
