A HARARE woman, who allegedly bit off her husband’s ear after he reprimanded her, has taken him to court for abuse.
Alice Njorota appeared before the Harare Civil Court today applying for a peace order against her husband, Author Mwedzi, whom she accused of insulting her, her mother and relatives.
Alice claimed that her husband insults her every day in front of their children and also tells them that he is not their father.
“I want him to stop insulting me, saying that my mother did not train me and that l do not have any relatives and that they are all useless people,” she said.
“Whenever he comes home drunk, he relieves himself everywhere and at one point he peed on our second born child, saying that he wanted to see how angry he could make me.
“We have three children and he sometimes tries to cause divisions among them by saying only one of them is his while the other two are not his,” she said.
In response, the husband denied insulting his wife and instead accused her of abusing him.
“My wife does not like being corrected and the last time l did so, she bit my ear and finger. She has anger issues,” he said.
The presiding Magistrate, Ms Johanna Mukwesha, granted the application and urged the couple to seek counselling.
