Hwange defender tries luck at Bosso

CENTREBACK Brian Mlotshwa is trying his luck at Highlanders among a long list of players expected not to return to Hwange this season.

Hwange is set to lose several players due to frustrations over salaries and delayed signing on fees. Those leaving are goalkeeper Nedrick Madeya, Goodwin Goriyati, Kelly Shiyandindi, Canaan Nkomo, Brendon Rendo, the grandson of Hwange legend Amos, Thabani Goredema and Kelvin Makopa.

Madeya is believed to have concluded a deal with Greenfuel while Shiyandindi and Makopa are said to be on the Chicken Inn radar.

Mlotshwa, a tough tackling central defender has been training with Bosson who might be in need to replace Mbongeni Ndlovu, who joined FC Platinum, with an experienced figure.

Bosso communications officer Nozibelo Maphosa said: “We have not made any other signing. The technical team is working with the team and also looking at some players. We stand guided by them in terms of additions to the team.”

Highlanders made their first signing last week with midfielder Marvin Sibanda penning a three-year deal with the club.

Sibanda, aged 25, was with Little Rock Rangers in the United States. His coming to Bosso is seen as a boost for the team, that has so far lost Brighton Manhire and Mbongeni Ndlovu to FC Platinum. The last time Bosso really challenged for the title was in 2012 and 2013, when they lost the championship battles to rivals Dynamos on goal difference.

Since then, the Bulawayo giants have managed a top-four finish only once, in 2016.In contrast, Chicken Inn, FC Platinum and Ngezi Platinum have enjoyed success during the period. The Gamecocks won the league title in 2015, before FC Platinum ruled the roost for four consecutive seasons from 2017 to 2022.

Ngezi took the honours last year.

In 2012, Bosso finished the season on 69 points the same as DeMbare, but the latter won the title due to a superior goal difference.

In 2013, the two giants finished the season level on 54 points and DeMbare won the title on goal difference again.

Last season Bosso finished in fifth place, 11 points adrift of eventual champions Ngezi Platinum Stars. – @innocentskizoe.
