THE Zifa Southern Region management has dubbed Saturday’s fixture between Hwange and hosts Casmyn the ‘Game of the Month’ as it may have a bearing on the destination of the Pacific Breeze League title.
The winners will win automatic qualification to the Premier Soccer League for the 2027 season.
League spokesperson Ngqwele Dube described the fixture as the pick of the nest.
“It looks a big game and we look forward to a carnival atmosphere as we will also have some activations there. The game must nail what promises to be a good day in which league sponsors and other stakeholders will be in attendance,” said Dube.
Hwange go into the fixture on 67 points having already relinquished the pole position to Talen Vision.
The Filabusi lads will be leading the race with two points lead following the awarding of three points for a walkover on Mosi Rovers who pulled out of the league mid way due to financial challenges.
Hwange with four games to go are under pressure to deliver while Talen Vision have one leg in it boosted by the Mosi Rovers 3-0 scoreline.
Talen Vision’s fate will be decided by their results against Casmyn, Bosso90 and Nkayi United who robbed Hwange of two points in their 0-0 draw last week.
Hwange wage their rescue mission with the away match to Casmyn at Turk Mine followed by a home game against Bosso90, away to Bulawayo Warriors whose 5-3 win over Talen Vision three weeks ago had given the colliery side a temporary relief after it had been beaten by Talen Vision and Khami United in consecutive matches.
Johannes Nhumwa’s Jordan will be hoping for maximum points when they host visiting Aqua Stars at Filabusi on Saturday. They are third on the log and a win would firmly put them on track to their highest ever finish in the race as Orchard Dube and his management team try to build towards a Premier Soccer League dream for the future.
Dube has not hidden that the dream is to bring Premiership football to Filabusi and Insiza District.
They are on 60 points two more than Nkayi United who will play host to Zebra Revolution in what is expected to be an explosive encounter.
