YOUNG Hwange Diggers Rugby player Clement Madimba has been hailed for his sterling performance at the Victoria Falls Red Bulls Rugby 10s tournament.
Madimba also plays for Kyle College’s first team.
His playing abilities were praised by Hwange Diggers head coach Dion Kamwendo, who described him as a remarkable player.
“You just have to watch him play in order to understand why we say he is remarkable. During the Victoria Falls Red Bulls Rugby 10s tournament he played and left an impression.
“He is a young player with a great future. He looks set for bigger things. He was with the national junior team,” said Kamwendo.
He said the player is destined for success in international rugby in the coming years.
“I am very pleased with Clement’s performance so far. He is a utility player who can play as a scrumhalf and flyhalf.
“At this rate, I am certain he will go far. I wish to see him going international,” he said.
The young player also received commendation from other Hwange Diggers technical members and senior players that included coach Frank Nyoni, captain Xolani Terrace Landa, players Danai Mapanzure, Craig and Maxwell Matsheza.
Meanwhile, Kamwendo said they have set sights at working with community and school teams in a bid to expand the game of rugby in Hwange.
“As earlier said in the year, Hwange Diggers rugby club plans to work with schools so that we have a sound development structure. We will also be working with community teams so that we develop rugby in Hwange,” said Kamwendo.
He said in their plans they proposed to target children who are 13 years of age and below. — @NkosieLegend
