‘Hwange still building’

HWANGE have had a decent start to the Castle Lager Premiership season so far and coach Nation Dube feels there is still room for improvement as the club is still on a rebuilding phase.

As part of the rebuilding exercise, Hwange has signed three players from Southern Region Division One outfit Zebra Revolution, who are Tawanda Shenje, Mongameli Tshuma and Arnold Dube.

Chipangano have collected four points from a possible six in what has been a positive start to the season. They won their first game against Yadah Stars 1-0, before producing an impressive performance, salvaging a point against Dynamos in a two all draw at Barbourfields Stadium last Saturday.

Dube is not getting carried away and his emphasis was on improving in every match.

“For now, it’s work in progress, because it’s a new team that l am trying to build and get to gel. I think maybe if we go up to seven or eight games l will be able to say something about the team. Otherwise, If you come into the league, you come to compete, if you come to avoid relegation then it’s better you stay where you were,” he said.

He praised goalkeeper Wellington Muuya who has been impressive between the sticks in the opening two fixtures.

“I am happy for Wellington, he is picking up but there’s only one thing that he needs to work on, that is organising his defence and to speak. If he can organise his defence. l think he is one of the best goalkeepers in the country,” said Dube

Hwange will play host to Bulawayo Chiefs this weekend and Dube says the visitors will bank on the soaring temperatures.

“Going to our home ground that we know that our good Lord gave us something to work on then I don’t think that the next team that is coming stands a chance, there is heat there. Heat is a God given advantage,” said Dube.

Bulawayo Chiefs held Bosso to a one all stalemate and will be hoping to get a positive result when they invade the coal mining town of Hwange.-@innocentskizoe
