Second Republic’s mantra “Leaving no one and no place behind,” as well as “Nyika ino vakwa nevene vayo” has been fulfilled in ward 3 and 10 of Hwedza district following the construction of two clinics, which were funded by devolution funds as well as assistance from the community.

The two clinics Tilita in ward 3 and Madzimbabwe in war 10 of Hwedza district, which have since been commissioned and opened to the public, brought a major relief to a combined 71 villages in the wards they were built.

Both clinics were recently commissioned by the Minster of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland East Dr Aplonia Munzverengwi who applauded communities for the contributions they made as construction was in progress.

Tilita clinic has now reduced the more than 10 km walking distance in search of medical service by residents in ward 3, to the next clinic for health services while completion of Madzimbabwe also brought a major relief to ward 10 residents who have been walking for close to 14 km to the next clinic.

Dr Munzverengwi said the success of the clinic building was a result of all Government departments which worked closely and delivered institutions with high positive impacts to the livelihoods of everyone in the two wards.

“Tilita clinic will benefit villages in ward 3 and part of the neighbouring Makoni ward 17 and Marondera District to the tune of approximately 8000 people. Currently, people travel above 11 km, more than the recommended walking distance to Idube and Hwedza clinics, to access health services. Therefore, the opening of the clinic has brought health services closer to the people and will go a long way to ease maternal health delivery in Ward 3,” she said.

“Health service delivery is one of the main components in the achievement of the National Development Strategy in the wider development context.

“This would enhance the attainment of the country’s national vision of being an upper middle income economy by 2030.”

“The developmental thrust by the council resonates with the Second Republic’s call for the social and economic well-being of the general of the people. The council has demonstrated its commitment to providing effective and efficient services to the residents of Hwedza District and beyond.

“I will end my speech acknowledging, a well-done job by Hwedza Rural District Council, the unwavering support of the sitting ward Councillor Alderman Mutswiri and the Ward 3 community. The philosophy surrounding the effective implementer of the National Development Strategy entails leaving no place and no person behind, the involvement and ownership of development projects and programs by the community, Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo.”

Hwedza RDC chief executive officer Mr Fredrick Jongwe said they will always strive to improve service delivery across Hwedza district, leaving no one and no place behind.

Opening of the two clinics resonates well with the mantra Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo as the two communities played a pivotal role throughout the project construction by mobilising local resources while other stakeholders complimented in other ways.

“As council we had to identify five near completion and high impact projects and these two fell in that category and did qualified for devolution funding and so we had to channel funds towards their completion. This is another achievement and a clear testimony of the Second Republic efforts of living no-one and no place behind in the development trajectory towards achieving an upper middle income economy by 2030. This is indeed very possible and achievable.

“As for Madzimbabwe clinic the project was started by the local community in 2013 spearheaded by the then ward 10 Councillor Mapako and completed only this year 10 years later by the current Councillor Musekiwa with the assistance of different stakeholders. The clinic will cater for 28 villages with a total population of more than 4000 people who were travelling more than 10km to get health services.

“Tilita clinic works commenced in 2010 being championed by the local community through the local councillor of ward 3 Councillor Mutsviri to mobilize materials and only to be opened in 2023 with the help of the Government funding of devolution .The clinic will cater for 43 villages with a total population of 8000 people who were travelling more than 11 km only to get the much needed basic service. As council we will continue to support the vision of attaining an upper middle income economy by 2030 as we have several other following projects to be completed and we will continue to partner our local communities in meeting their expectations.”

Beneficiaries of these clinics thanked Government for availing funds and Hwedza RDC for channelling these funds and resources towards the completion of two clinics.

A resident from Tilita Amai Chakwanda expressed joy that the clinic is complete.

“What the Second Republic has done for us in Tilita is commendable. Hurumende yedu toitenda zvakanyanya nekutivakira chipatara chakanaka.”

Mr Cornelius Gorerekufa said walking for long distances to Mt St Marys Hospital is over.

“We were walking for long distances and hours to the next clinic, but all is now history because our Government has built a clinic close to our homes. As for me, this clinic is just a stone throw away and I am very excited. This is what we always wanted as parents of this community and our wish in Tilita has been fulfilled.”
