Zimbabwe dancehall musician Hwindi President, real name Bessel Mugo Parehwa, will embark on his maiden tour of the United Kingdom this month.The Chitungwiza-bred artiste is part of the star studded line up of a tour dubbed the Madirirano tour – brainchild of Simba Chakare of Bodyslam Records.

The tour kicks off in Luton on September 23 and ends in Leicester on September 25 with a family show where children under the age of 12 will have free entrance.

Hwindi President was over the moon and he showered praises on Simba “Dj Trouble” Chakare for affording him the golden opportunity of boarding an airplane and touring UK.

“I am so excited about the tour and who ever thought I will be flying to UK.

“I am so honoured and thank the organisers for the great opportunity. It’s been three years since I have been in the industry but a lot of blessings have already come my way,” he said.

The “Tsvagai Mabasa” hit-maker revealed that he will also launch his second album.

“I will take the opportunity to launch my second album. I was inspired by Shinsoman when he did the same. It is a simple thank you to my fans in UK.

“I appreciate their support so after I deliver a massive performance I will cap it with an album launch,” said Hwindi President.

The energetic musician also appealed to his UK fans to assist him fund his upcoming projects.

“This is my maiden tour and I am still new in the game. I have a lot of projects that are not moving because of funding so I urge my UK fans to support in funding. That little will go a long way,” begged the self-proclaimed ‘president of touts’.

His rise to fame was dramatic.

He was a tout plying the City-Chitungwiza route and would drop freestyles during his working hours to passengers, of which one passenger identified his talented and advised him to record.

Organiser of the tour Chakare said Hwindi President’s future looks promising, hence the decision to include him in the tour.

“As Bodyslam Records we believe in uplifting ghetto talent because we also came from there.

He will mingle with big names like Soul Jah Love, Killer T, Shinsoman, King Alfred and Jah Hanief among others.

Chakare also confirmed that Lady Squanda has been dropped from the list because the inhumane treatment she lashed out on comedian Skimbo.

“Squanda is not part of the tour anymore, we have replaced her with Skimbo and our papers are almost done. If his visa comes out this week, he will join Dj Busta, Killer T, MC Rego, New Generation and Digital One,” he said.

The Madirirano concept was started by Bodyslam Records in Highfield where it is held every Sunday connecting uptown and downtown revellers at one social place.
