June 28 and the organisers have now invited Zengeza Primary School of Chitungwiza to take part.
The teams will be divided into four pools — A to D — and they will play round robin matches.
Two-time defending champions, St John’s Prep, will have to beat a dozen schools to hold on to their title.
Alex Park, Borrowdale, Gateway, Hartmann House, Heritage, Highlands, Lusitania, St John’s Prep, Ariel
School, Emerald Hill, Westridge and hosts Hellenic are the schools scheduled to take part at the event.
The organisers said they will be inviting a school from the high-density areas annually.
Odilo, who is one of the organisers, said they are ready to host the tournament once again. “The Super5 promises to be an explosive event that most of the players are looking forward to. We are grateful to Hyundai who are our main sponsors,” said Odilo.
“Adding Zengeza to the tournament will be good as we would like to give them a chance to get exposed because we believe there is also a lot of talent in the players from such schools.
“The preparations ahead of the tournament have now reached an advanced stage and we are looking forward to give a chance to the young talent at this year’s edition once again.” Hellenic School Under-13 soccer coach, Ray Funani, said his team’s preparations were going on well.
“We have been training twice a week since the beginning of this term and I am happy that the boys have the passing skills, though they still have to improve on their aggression with the ball,” said Funani.
“I believe I will come up with a stronger squad this year than the one I had last year. The boys are looking forward to our fixtures and the Five-Aside tournament,” said Funani.
