FISO Siziba, the former Officer-in-Charge of the Entumbane Police Station who recently departed the station after being elevated to the rank of Superintendent, says he leaves the station feeling pleased of both his work and that of his subordinates.
Prior to being promoted late last month, a surprise party was hosted for Siziba organised by his subordinates and attended by members of the business community, friends, and officers from other police stations in the City. Everyone who attended described Siziba as a level-head and firm commander.
“I really would like to thank Entumbane ZRP members for coming up with this initiative of a farewell party, these are fruits of good teamwork, good team building initiatives, collaboration and indeed good workmanship. As I turn my back on the station, I want to extend my gratitude to the Business Against Crime Forum of Zimbabwe, Entumbane chapter, they have been walking with the station in the fight against crime by providing necessary resources where we were falling short. Credit goes to them for repairing the station vehicle after it was involved in a road traffic accident.
“The station also has very good relations with the community and I would want to appreciate the crime liaison committee, abadala besigaba and community leadership, we are proud that the known apathy between the police and the community was turned into sympathy, generated into a symbiotic relationship which helped the police in their mandate of fighting crime and maintaining peace and order in the community. I leave Entumbane Police Station a proud and satisfied person,” said Siziba with nostalgia showing on his face.
The public’s confidence and trust in the police makes it simpler to fight crime because they will feel comfortable to share important information with them since they know it will be treated with the utmost discretion. Due to the actions of police officials, who occasionally ask the complainant to go and instruct the accused to report to the station, some stations have forced complainants to drop their cases.
Siziba said it was his hope that whoever takes over at Entumbane will maintain these relations as well as respect the community for the support that they have always given to the station.
Popularly known as Bro Fiso in football circles, where he is also the Highlanders Football Club vice-chairman and vice-secretary of the highest decision-making board in football in the ZRP, Siziba commands respect both among his work colleagues and the community because of his openness in what he does, yet under normal circumstances should be feared because of the nature of his job. Siziba is one person who never beats about the bush, for good or for bad.

When news broke out that he had been promoted, there was excitement and happiness for him but also fears and anxiety that his organisation may deploy him outside Bulawayo which will result in him not executing his duties as the second-in-charge at Amahlolanyama. Siziba too, seemed to have those fears.
“The organisation in its own nature and structure does such postings, especially in the rank that I am now in, however as much as I cannot promise that I will be in Bulawayo, it’s my wish that I remain here because I have a dream, I have an unfinished business with Highlanders, I need to win something big while still serving as vice-chairman of the club,” said Siziba.
Siziba is now the Deputy Officer Commanding the Nkulumane district in charge of operations, where he will be in charge of the operations at six stations: Nkulumane, Tshabalala, Pumula, Magwegwe, Luveve, and Cowdray Park. So, it appears that his dream and wish, along with those of anxious Bosso fans, have been granted.
