I am unperturbed by whistles: Miss Curvy

The 18-year-old model, who has just finished writing her Advanced Level examinations, said her hips were noticeable and attract attention wherever she goes.
The curvaceous queen, who was at Masase High School, in Mberengwa, said she was unperturbed by whistles and unsavoury comments especially from men.

“I am proud of my curves and most people can’t afford to look at me once, especially men. They whistle and say all sorts of comments, but I guess I am used to it.
Honestly, I can’t blame them, my curves are just noticeable,” said Shumba.

The curvaceous model said she entered the pageant as she felt it was her sole chance to take a walk on the ramp.

“All my life I have wanted to model but I couldn’t because they are always looking for tall and slim people. When I heard about Miss Curvy, I just told myself this is the time to make my dream come true and I went and joined,” she said.

Shumba highlighted that her schoolmates and her family were proud of her achievement.

“At school, they were happy for me, they told me that I had flown the Masase flag high and my family was also very supportive,” she said.

For winning the crown, Shumba took home $2 000, a trip to Egypt and a $5 000 scholarship at a tertiary institution of her choice donated by Harare businessman Wicknell “BIG” Chivayo.

She said she would plan when to travel to North Africa as she was busy with her examinations.
