CELEBRITY actor Tendai “Sasa” Chidarikire believes evil spirits are tormenting him after he suffered another health scare on Sunday.

The versatile creative artist and fitness trainer is down with a mild stroke.

The new health scare comes just under a month after he was diagnosed with thrombosis.

Although he has been receiving medical attention, Chidarikire did not rule out spiritual attacks linked to witchcraft.

“There are strange things that I have been facing in recent weeks and I can’t rule out the fact that there might be evil spirits formed against me that want to bring me down,” he told Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub.

“I always ask myself why is it that I started encountering medical challenges when I hinted at my return to showbiz after a long sabbatical.

“Whether we like it or not, there are spirits of anti-progress that follow from the families where I come from and all this can only be addressed through prayer.”

He added:

“By the way, not all the people that we meet love us, and we need to take heed of that all the time.

“In my case, this mysterious illness is a result of people fighting me.”

Chidarikire said his health challenges started after he publicly announced his return to showbiz.

“What has really affected me is that this illness has come at a time when I am determined to revive my career.

“I have been running my business in Harare, which requires a lot of hands-on work.

“Like any other person with a calling, I can ‘t run away from being an artist.”

Chidarikire added:

“I’m sick again, within a space of a month, with what my doctor said was a mild stroke, which needs to be urgently managed.

“At first, I developed numbness on my left leg, which developed into my left hand.

“It was also triggered by hypertension, which shot up early this week.

“I was given a month-long programme that I am following as part of my therapy.

“I have no choice but to simply follow what medical doctors have in store for me.

“I will certainly do my best to ensure that I revive my career.”

Chidarikire has alternated between Zimbabwe and South Africa to pursue his craft.

In South Africa, he established himself in commercials and soap operas, including Scandal.

He has explored several music genres, incorporating Kanindo, acapella, soul, and house, especially on his album Hona MaUSA.

Chidarikire showcased his acting talent locally when he featured in Studio 263.

His artistic expertise dates back to 1996, when he was crowned Best Performance Actor by Reps Theatre in Harare.

Chidarikire has been hailed for promoting young talent, which has helped him stand out from the rest.

Some of his notable productions include Zezuru (2000) and Ndiringe (2001), recorded with the late Tendai Mupfurutsa’s High Density Records.
