THE smell of burning rubber, roaring engines and screaming crowds will take over Gweru this Saturday when the popular Midlands Burnouts shifts into top gear at its new home, Mahogany Motorsport Park.
The high-octane motoring extravaganza, which has become a firm favourite on Gweru’s entertainment calendar, is moving from the Midlands Agricultural Showgrounds to the newly introduced motorsport park in Zambezi Park, at the bottom of the Bulawayo flyover.
Organisers are promising fans an even bigger experience as “Midlands Burnouts is Back” takes centre stage from 10am to 10pm.
Mahogany TV spokesperson Xray said the relocation was part of efforts to give the event a fresh feel while creating a dedicated environment for motorsport enthusiasts.
“Midlands Burnouts is back, but this time we are bringing it to a new home. Mahogany Motorsport Park gives us an opportunity to create a different experience for our fans while keeping the action they have come to love,” said Xray.

He said the event would bring together motorsport, music and family entertainment.
“This is not just about burnouts. We have music, DJs, food and drinks, kids’ entertainment and fireworks. We want people to come early and spend the whole day with us,” he said.
The main attraction will remain the spectacular burnout displays, with drivers expected to unleash their machines in clouds of tyre smoke as they compete to thrill the crowd.
On the entertainment front, songstresses Tammy Moyo and SaintFloew headline the musical line-up, while DJs Masty, Nella, Nashe and Alex will keep the party going.
DJ Raza and Selekta Base will take charge of hosting duties, with MC Tiff and Vele Vele also expected to keep the crowd entertained.
Xray said the new venue marked another chapter for an event that had steadily built a following in the Midlands.
“We are excited about this new chapter. The response from the fans has been encouraging and we are confident that people are going to enjoy what we have put together,” he said.
The event will also give businesses an opportunity to market their products and services to the anticipated crowds, with organisers inviting brands to come on board.
With engines set to roar from morning until night, organisers hope the first Midlands Burnouts at Mahogany Motorsport Park will usher in a new era for Gweru’s motoring and entertainment scene.
