A MAN from Gwanda has been arraigned for possessing 2,3 metres of python skin worth $1,500. Khulisani Moyo, 25, of Gubathema village under chief Mathe, appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Marylyn Mutshina facing a charge of unlawful possession of specially protected species.
Moyo pleaded guilty. “I admit to the charges levelled against me. I found the python in the bush near my homestead and killed it with a stone. I wanted it for rituals,” said Moyo.
Mutshina remanded Moyo in custody to November 2 for sentence.
Prosecuting, Kudakwashe Jaravaza told the court that on July 4, 2015 at around 12PM, police received a tip off that Moyo was seen cooking meat which was suspected to be stolen.They went to Fox farm where Moyo resides and is employed as a herdsman. They demanded to search his bedroom hut and found the python skin hanging on top of his bed.
