I WAS PAID IN FULL, SAYS MUKANYA

Forward Nyanyiwa in CARLOW, Ireland

CHIMURENGA music icon Thomas “Mukanya” Mapfumo has told

H-Metro that he was paid his performance fees for two shows in Harare.

Mukanya was hired by businessman Wicknell Chivayo in a US$1 million deal.

However, Jah Prayzah’s wedding ceremony has been postponed indefinitely in the wake of Chivayo’s death in a helicopter crash on Wednesday.

Speaking to H-Metro last night, Mukanya said he is still in shock after receiving the tragic news of Chivayo’s death.

“I can confirm that l was paid in full for the work l was supposed to do and l will honour my contract of work.

“At the moment l don’t have much to say as l am still in shock with the death of Wicknell.

“May the Lord comfort his family and his loved ones,” Mukanya said.

Mapfumo said he will return to his base and come back when a new date is set.

“I will go back to America and will definitely be back for the show.

“My team is making new arrangements with all the involved stakeholders and l think we will have a clear picture after the burials.”

His publicist Cuthbert Chiromo echoed the same sentiments and confirmed that they were in touch with Jah Prayzah’s team for new dates.

“Mukanya was paid in full and right now l am in touch with Jah Prayzah’s management for new dates and definitely, Mukanya will perform,” he said.
