ICASA 2023 preparations on course

Zimbabwe is ready to welcome more than 8000 delegates who will attend the International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa (ICASA), slated for December 4 to 9.

Speaking during a curtain raiser ICASA press conference this afternoon, president of the ICASA 2023 Dr David Parirenyatwa said all was now in place.

“Zimbabwe is fully ready to receive a possible 8000 participants who will be coming to attend the conference in Harare. The conference will be preceded by two high level meetings; one looking at the elimination of mother to child transmission of HIV and will be spearheaded by African First Ladies and chaired by First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa,” he said.

The second meeting will see African Ministers of Finance looking at ways to increase domestic funding towards the response to HIV, TB Malaria and other infectious diseases.

National AIDS Council (NAC) Chief Executive Officer Dr Bernard Madzima said all logistical arrangements in terms of transportation and accommodation were in order.

He called on delegates coming from countries that require a visa to enter Zimbabwe to start their applications early.
