AN International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation begins a week-long inspection of Zimbabwe’s proposed venues today as preparations gather momentum for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

Zimbabwe will co-host the global tournament with South Africa and Namibia, with the ICC team scheduled to assess facilities and infrastructure at venues earmarked for the tournament and its warm-up matches.

The delegation’s first stop is Takashinga Cricket Club in Highfield, Harare, where the inspection is scheduled to begin at 14:30 today.

Takashinga has been earmarked to host warm-up matches ahead of the main tournament.

The inspection programme continues tomorrow at Harare Sports Club before the delegation travels to Victoria Falls for two days of assessments on Wednesday and Thursday.

The team will then proceed to Bulawayo, where inspections are scheduled for Friday and Saturday.

The visit comes as Zimbabwe steps up preparations for the 2027 World Cup, which will mark the return of the men’s global 50-over showpiece to Africa for the first time since the 2003 edition hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya.

The ICC delegation’s inspections are expected to provide an assessment of the readiness of Zimbabwe’s venues and associated facilities ahead of the tournament.
