THE International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation is at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo for the final leg of its inspection of Zimbabwe’s proposed venues for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, with the venue among the facilities being assessed.

The inspection marks the conclusion of the delegation’s week-long tour of Zimbabwe as preparations gather momentum for the global cricket showcase, which the country will co-host with South Africa and Namibia.

The team began its assessment programme in Harare on Monday, October 5, with a visit to Takashinga Cricket Club in Highfield, a venue earmarked to host warm-up matches ahead of the tournament.

The delegation also inspected Harare Sports Club before travelling to Victoria Falls for assessments on Wednesday and Thursday.

Bulawayo is the final stop on the itinerary, with Queens Sports Club among the key facilities being assessed as Zimbabwe works towards hosting matches at the tournament.

The inspections are intended to assess the readiness of the proposed venues and associated infrastructure ahead of the 2027 World Cup.

The tournament will mark the return of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup to Africa for the first time since 2003, when Zimbabwe, South Africa and Kenya jointly hosted the competition.

Zimbabwe’s preparations for the event are expected to place the spotlight on its cricket facilities, playing infrastructure and capacity to accommodate teams, officials and supporters during the global showpiece.
