ZIMBABWE Cricket (ZC) has confirmed that the senior men’s national team is finally on its way home from India after several days of uncertainty caused by disruptions along international transit routes.
The Chevrons, who were in India for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, had their initial travel plans thrown into disarray due to interruptions affecting major transit corridors as a result of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has since secured alternative arrangements to enable the team’s safe return.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, ZC said the squad would be returning to Harare in stages because of limited flight options and revised routing brought about by the disruptions.
“Zimbabwe Cricket confirms that the Zimbabwe senior men’s team participating in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 are on their way home from India after the International Cricket Council secured alternative travel arrangements following recent transit disruptions.
The first group of players departed India today, Wednesday, while the final group is scheduled to leave on Friday afternoon,” reads the statement.
The phased return is a direct result of reduced flight availability, with airlines adjusting schedules and re-routing passengers around affected Middle Eastern airspace.
ZC said additional updates would be provided should circumstances change.
