THERE is nothing more exciting than getting a call from that one introvert friend who sometimes decides to be among us chirpy folk.
It was just yesterday that I woke up and was getting ready for work when my friend that happens to stay a few blocks away from my lodgings called me and bluntly asked me: “Where are you!?” and my response was obvious… “I am home and getting ready for work.”
The next few seconds of the conversation were “Listen I just had an epiphany and I know you won’t turn me down on this one. I just thought of a cocktail recipe you can preview for your column.”
Naturally I agreed and passed by his place. It was an Ice Tropez and strawberry Ice Cream mélange. I shan’t delve much into how he got his hands on the beverage because one thing for certain is that my friend drinks beer and hardly takes pink drinks – ciders to be precise.
My friend goes by the name Ted and his ingredients for his cocktail are quite simple and to the point. All you need is just a bottle of the beverage, strawberry flavoured ice cream and strawberries.
It barely takes five minutes to make. Pour the cider into a blender add a few scoops of the ice cream and pop a few of the berries into the mix. Blend until it becomes thick and then pour into a finely pink sugar coated glass.
I know this is one of the simplest of drinks but I thought let me jazz it up with my own version.
I challenged him to add some wine to the mix, you know add a bit of flavour and top up on the alcohol with a few decibels.
I thought of sweet rose. Anyway I then decided to research my proposed recipe and guess what? I found a few recipes matching my suggestion.
The one that was quite interesting is jazzed up with a few tots of Gin.
What you need to do is blend the strawberries with sugar, add a few cubes of ice, pour the mixture into a glass then pour your drink and finally add a few tots of any gin of choice.
I am yet to try this out but anyway till next weekend cheers to a blissful and tipsy weekend.
