The Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe (IDBZ) is seeking partners in the development of a new residential suburb on the outskirts Harare, construction of students’ accommodation at Chinhoyi University of Technology and management of its properties portfolio across the country.
The bank has since invited prospective partners to submit their tender documents to participate in the projects as advertised in last week’s Government Gazette.
In its first invitation for competitive bidding under General Notice 1576 of 2019, the IDBZ is seeking a partner to develop Sumben Residential Estate on the outskirts of Harare towards Bindura.
“The IDBZ invites prospective suppliers to participate in the following tenders: (1) Tender number — IDBZ/IPDRII/Sumben Housing Infrastructure/IDBZ 26 of 2019 (2) Project name — the construction of roads, storm water drainage, water and sewerage reticulation and street lighting for Sumben Residential Estate,” reads part of the notice.
The estate is situated 200 metres from the intersection of Harare Drive and Sam Nujoma Street and a compulsory site visit will be held on September 27 at 10am.
Bids will have to be submitted by October 31, while requests for clarification will have to be made by October 4.
“Zimbabwean companies are required to pay a bid security of $10 000.
“Foreign firms are required to pay either $10 000 or equivalent currency convertible at the applicable interbank exchange rate on the date of submission of the prospective bidder’s bid.
“The bid security shall be payable in the form described in the bidding document.
“The bank shall return the bid security provided that the bidder does not withdraw the tender before contract signing,” added IDBZ in the notice.
Prospective bidders must be registered with the Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe and also comply with the Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act.
On the construction of students’ accommodation at CUT, the bank is looking for a firm to carry out an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) as advertised under General Notice 1577 of 2019.
“The proposed students’ accommodation complex at CUT entails the construction of five student hostel blocks with base bed capacity of 1 512 students inclusive of extension services (water, sewer, roads and electricity) to service the new facilities.
“The student accommodation complex comprises a combination of three and four-storey buildings covering a total area of 18 000 square metres,” reads the notice.
The main objective of the ESIA is to ensure that the project is implemented in an environmental and socially sustainable manner.
The tender is only open to Zimbabwean firms and they have to be registered with PRAZ, have 10 years’ experience and provide three reference letters from traceable referees.
Consultants may also associate with other firms as joint ventures or sub-consultancy to enhance their qualifications.
The expressions of interest must be submitted by September 27 and addressed to Head of Procurement Management Unit at IDBZ House in Harare.
The bank is also looking for a property and real estate management firm to manage various projects it is engaged in as advertised under General Notice 1578 of 2019.
These include development of students and health personnel accommodation and leasing of properties to business and individuals.
The expressions of interest must be submitted by September 27 at the IDBZ head office in Harare.
