THE usually bustling illegal taxi rank at the corner of Third Avenue and Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Street was on Tuesday morning deserted after a businessman was shot dead a few hours earlier.
The yet to be identified businessman was reportedly shot dead by a gang of robbers on Monday night.
Police are yet to release details about the robbery and the amount that the gang grabbed.
When a Zimpapers newscrew arrived at the scene on Tuesday morning, detectives from the Homicide Division were conducting investigations.
Tens of pirate taxis that operate at the illegal rank had been ordered to leave the area.
Touts, rank marshals and drivers were seen milling around the area waiting for the detectives to conduct their investigations.
The shop where the robbery and shooting took place was still closed.
