I’m a unifier: Godfatha Templeman

Entertainment Reporter
Zimbabwean dancehall Dj Godfatha Templeman has denied causing confusion and division among artistes, saying he was a unifier. Templeman, who has worked with a number of upcoming and established Zim-Dancehall artistes, said he was bridging the gap between camps.
“For starters, I don’t have the power or authority to divide (dancehall) artistes, it is only ‘the Most High’ who is able to do that. I am free to work with any artiste and whoever wants me to work with them I will gladly do that. In fact, I want to unite all the artistes, this is why we hold shows of up to 30 or 50 artistes.

“Some of the artistes are pretty new and you’ve never heard of them but we give them the platform to showcase,” he said.

He said as a Dj he didn’t belong to the so-called camps which are divided according to ghettos.

“There is no camp which can say I have caused confusion or animosity. I belong to all the ghettos and respect every artiste. If there are other people who are saying bad about me then we give thanks to the Most High because where there is evil there are good things that come out. When the good comes out then we rejoice,” he said. Templeman co-hosts the Dancehall remedy with Garry B and the programme airs on Star FM. Each time they hit the airwaves they introduce new music from around the ghettos.

“We have about 250 backyard studios in the ghettos and each studio has about 20 artistes who want to be exposed so there is lots of new music that’s coming out of the ghettos and that’s what drives the show,” he said.
