I’m now mature for vice-chairman post: Ncube

HIGHLANDERS’ vice-chairman hopeful Nkosinathi Ncube is working on his manifesto in the run-up to the contest set for February 7. Ncube, 46, who is a product of the club’s juniors, wants to finally live up to the adage “third time lucky” after failing in his two previous attempts to land the executive post. Ncube joins three other candidates Modern Ngwenya, Kenneth Mhlophe and incumbent Mgcini Mpofu, who have already publicly announced their intentions to run for the post.

Ncube said if elected, he would engage reputable corporate entities for partnership with Bosso as this is what he felt the club needed to grow its brand.

“The first assignment I will embark on when I get into office is to engage sponsors to form a public partnership with the club.

“By that we want to avoid a situation whereby an executive member uses his own money to finance the club, which usually ends up compromising the club’s interests,” said Ncube.

He said the team’s clubhouse was in urgent need of facelift and members of the public could assist the club to undertake this work.

Ncube promised the club’s members strong and quality leadership saying he had gained vast experience in the business world to manage the post.

Besides his forays in business, Ncube is also into humanitarian work and helps those with disabilities in society through his Sidlani Trust.

Ncube said there was a need to promote knowledge of Highlanders as a brand and in this regard he planned to help members and fans understand the structure, projects and leadership of the club.

Members and fans must also better understand the role of executive members and committees so that they know the direction their club is going.

“I lost the first time I ran for this post because they (members) said I was young, but now I think I’m mature and can promise the electorate quality leadership that will help unite the Bosso family.

“I’m also pleading for equal opportunities in the run-up to the elections because what everyone needs on voting day is fair play,” Ncube said.
