I’m ready to wrestle Binga from opposition

ZANU-PF Binga North constituency candidate for the forthcoming harmonised elections, Cde Kudakwashe Mavula Munsaka, has vowed to wrestle the seat from the opposition saying the development projects spearheaded by the Second Republic have warmed the hearts of locals and lured many to the ruling party.

Cde Munsaka said he is already canvassing for more support in the constituency and making sure that the electorate is fully aware of the Second Republic’s milestones in the district.

A professional accountant who obtained his first degree in Accounting from Solusi University, Cde Munsaka is a financial consultant in Zimbabwe, Zambia and South Africa, with a bias on agriculture and start-up businesses.

He hails from Kalonga village in Siabuwa. He did his education in Bulawayo and was Junior Councillor for Bulawayo Adventist School as well as Junior MP for Lobengula-Magwegwe constituency while at Masotsha High School in Magwegwe North suburb.

Cde Munsaka was also a member of the Zanu-PF Bulawayo Youth League while at school. In a recent interview with Chronicle on the sidelines of the installation of Chief Binga at Bulawayo Kraal Primary School, Cde Munsaka expressed confidence in clinching victory come August 23 when polls will be held.

“I am now ready to wrestle the seat from the opposition in the forthcoming elections. We are at an advanced stage in terms of our campaign programs,” he said.

“We are glad that President Mnangagwa is due to make an announcement of the election date soon so that we can hit the ground running. We are ready to deliver.”

Cde Munsaka said various developmental projects in the district have lured many people to the ruling party.

For instance, he said the establishment of Binga Polytechnic College, the school of nursing at Binga Hospital, the recent coming on air of Twasumpuka FM, erection of telecommunication booster stations, and drilling of boreholes that are connected to a solar system are tangible projects that the Second Republic has delivered.

“We have a number of programs that we have lined up, but largely following President Mnangagwa’s vision of leaving no place and no one behind, we have been very much into the water challenges in Binga, said Cde Munsaka.

“With the assistance of President Mnangagwa, we have drilled boreholes throughout Binga North constituency The boreholes are now connected to the solar system,” he said.

“As the candidate, I am also coming in with vegetable gardens for local women to sustain themselves with projects. In addition, we are also going to put in fish ponds. We are working as a party through the President in road construction and we appealed to President Mnangagwa that the road infrastructure in Binga is in a bad state.

“For now we have done seven kilometres of the Binga-Karoi Road, it has been tarred and the target is to finish the 130 kilometers.

“We are also working on what we call our primary roads, those roads that lead to communities. The community has cleared pathways and DDF is now coming to grade the roads.”

Two days before President Mnangagwa came to Binga (last week), Cde Munsaka said he received material from the National Railways of Zimbabwe meant for the construction of footbridges across the communities.

He said another notable development is the advocacy for parastatals to contribute to the uplifting of the constituency.

“NetOne is now busy assisting us in erecting base stations, we have a temporary base station in Chunga that was put up by NetOne after our intervention and they are at an advanced stage to have a permanent base station,” said Cde Munsaka.

He said the recent coming on air of Twasumpuka FM is another key milestone in driving the “leaving no one and no place behind” mantra as communities will be empowered through increased access to information.

The Government has to date licensed 14 community radio stations in the country as part of efforts to give communities a voice in the development matrix of the country.

Speaking during a live interview with Binga’s Twasumpuka FM, on the sidelines of the culture month commemorations at Kariyangwe Village, under Chief Siansali last Saturday, President Mnangagwa said the Government will continue making sure that communities get radio licences in order to promote local culture and local languages.

He said community radio stations provide a platform for locals to air their concerns on various developmental issues, giving them a voice that they previously did not have. The interview with the President was historic in the sense that this was the first one conducted by a community radio station since the Second Republic’s drive of licensing community radio stations in the country.

Cde Munsaka added that President Mnangagwa has assisted in the renovation of Binga mortuary, donated ambulances and facilitated the establishment of a polytechnic and a nursing school. The aerodrome has been completed and is now functional.

“We are all over the constituency to make sure the campaign is smooth and to ensure that the community fully understands President Mnangagwa’s thrust of developing our communities by locals. We will be campaigning in all villages as we will be leaving no one behind,” he said.

The ruling party Zanu-PF is on an aggressive membership recruitment exercise countrywide and is targeting to garner five million votes in the upcoming polls. It has concluded its primary election process to select candidates and is now gearing to launch its election manifesto that will give impetus to its campaign for this year’s harmonised polls.

Zanu-PF is confident of securing a resounding victory because of several programmes, policies and projects that are uplifting the lives of the country’s populace. All the programmes and projects are premised on addressing the needs, hopes, and aspirations of the people.
