Zimbabwe Football Association instructors Gibson Homela and Maxwel Takaendesa Jongwe are impressed with the turn out at the on-going Confederation of African Football B licence course in Bulawayo.
Homela said that he is happy with the coaches’ turnout for this year’s edition, the second ever in Bulawayo. “This time the Caf B course turnout is very impressive as compared to previous editions of the course,” said Homela.
Twenty-Six participants are taking part in this year’s event compared to the 16 coaches that attended the 2013 course. Takaendesa expressed his disappointment with the poor turnout of the Bulawayo coaches though who qualify for the Caf B licensing course.
“The decentralisation policy that Zifa adopted was to ensure that people in various parts of the nation could benefit from such programmes, however, we have a disappointing turn out from the local Bulawayo coaches for this particular event.
“All coaches in possession of Caf licences were invited to take part in this skills development initiative provided for by Caf in the continental body’s bid to inject professional coaching standards in African football,” said Takaendesa
“Zifa continues with its aim towards developing the game through empowering local coaches and this only goes to further demonstrate its commitment towards football development,” he said.
Homela said the course was made up of practical and theory lessons and examinations at the end which will be used to determine those who succeed and those who fail to make the grade.
