In rest shall you be saved

ISAIAH 30:15

For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.

God encourages His children to rest in Him.

It is in Him that if we rest, we shall be saved.

If you cannot help yourself, God will not help you.

He helps those that rest in Him.

Confidence in God is our strength.

When we depend on God, then we are strong.

A believer should helplessly depend on God.

A believer should trust God, and leave matters in His hands.

Trust is an unshakeable belief in the reliability or ability of someone or something.

When you trust God, you are believing that He is reliable, and you can trust Him with your issues, and leave matters in His hands.

That state of confidence in His ability and reliability is where salvation lays.

In Psalm 46:10-11 the Bible says: “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”

You should be still when you are faced with a situation, and leave God to show Himself as God on your behalf.

The battle is God’s.

He wants to get the glory when He fights for you.

He wants to show His glory, and be exalted in the whole earth when He flexes His hand for you.

Exodus 14:13: “And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.”

They appealed their case to God.

And Moses began to pray, and the Lord spoke to Moses.

And Moses ran among the people and said: “Stand still, and see the salvation of God.”

That is the way you must do it. Just stand still and watch it.

He said: “These Egyptians, that you are looking at today, you will see them again no more.”

That card in the doctor’s office that you looked at, that he turned down and wrote death across it, you will see it no more.

For God will surely come in His magnificent grace and set you free.

That situation, you will see it again no more.

The magic is in resting and standing still.

Israel was faced with an enemy behind, a Red Sea in front of it and a mountain on either side.

They could not run backwards.

They could not run sideways.

They could not run forward.

That is where they needed to be at rest and in confidence.

It is ironic that it is when the situation causes fretfulness that you need to be at rest.

It is when the storm was raging and the boat about to be sunk by the waves that Jesus was sleeping in the hinder part of the boat.

In 2 Chronicles 20:13-17 nations had come to fight Judah, and Judah was troubled.

They cried to God.

The Spirit of God fell upon one of them and he gave a prophecy.

The Bible account reads: [13] And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.

[14] Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation;

[15] And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.

[16] To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.

[17] Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.

The battle was not of Judah, but God’s.

What fights you, fights God.

Your adversary is God’s adversary.

The battle is not yours: it is God’s.

Just rest and stand still.

Judah was told to stand still and just set themselves in array.

Go about your business.

God will intervene in your daily affairs and magnify your effort.

In rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength.
