THE police officer who allegedly stalked and later fondled the buttocks of a Lower Gweru bar lady had reasons to smile after the complainant withdrew the charges.
Yona Banda, 28, of Mkoba Village 9 and is a police officer based at Maboleni Police Station, allegedly forced himself on the lady after she offered him overnight accommodation.
Banda was facing a charge of indecent assault as it was alleged that he fondled the woman’s buttocks, caressed her breasts before beating her with fists and booted feet.
He had pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared before Gweru magistrate, Mildred Matuvi.
The bar lady later decided to withdraw the charges saying she felt the matter could be resolved amicably between them.
