THE District Development Coordinator for Chegutu, Mr Mark Kadaira, said preparations for Independence Day celebrations are at an advanced stage.

Speaking at the 305th full council meeting held at Norton Town Council today, Mr Kadaira said the groundwork had been done.

“The groundwork and mobilisation of resources have been done, and we are ready for Independence Day celebrations,” he said.

“The only thing we need from Norton Town Council is to provide us with grounds and a little bit of support.

“I have spoken to the town secretary before that we are looking for a venue and you may make additions to what we have.

“On entertainment, I have spoken to Mr Rampiyawo (acting director of housing, health and community services), like entertainment, it should be from the locals, so they are arranging something. We also require big soccer teams.”

Mr Kadaira said not much is required in Norton as the roads are in good order.

“And we already have grounds,” he said.
