adminNew Delhi — India’s prime Minister Narendra Modi is facing a revolt within his Hindu nationalist party, with senior leaders questioning his leadership style after the party’s debacle in recent elections in eastern Bihar state.
A statement issued late on Tuesday by four former ministers, Lal Krishna Advani, Yashwant Sinha, Murli Manohar Joshi and Shanta Kumar, says the principal reason for the defeat is the way the party has been weakened in the last year, indirectly accusing Modi and party president Amit Shah of concentrating too much power in their hands.
Last Sunday’s defeat was a major blow for Modi. He led his party to a massive victory in national elections last year, but the BJP and its allies won only 58 of the 243 seats in the Bihar state legislature.— AFP.
