INGWEBU Breweries in partnership with LinkedIn hair saloon on Thursday donated mahewu, stationery and free haircuts for pupils at King George V1 Memorial School.
Speaking on the sidelines of the donation, the school’s headmistress Mrs Perseverance Hadebe said the school caters for the disabled people and most of them comes from vulnerable families where they fail to pay for school fees.
Through helping hands from various stakeholders, the school is managing to maintain high educational standards despite economic difficulties.
“We are very thankful to what Ingwebu and LinkedIn Saloon had done for us, truly on our own we could not buy all these things and afford to pay for haircuts for our pupils. As a school we are also facing economic challenges to put our things up to date but through helping hands we are surviving,” said Mrs Hadebe.
Ingwebu Sales and Distribution Manager Mr Ray Makwaiba said they want to help the community through philanthropic work.
“We have donated Maheu and stationery for everyone here at the school including teaching stuff. We are actually targeting a number of schools. We want to promote our brand through these works because people are really benefiting from our work,” said Mr Makwaiba.
A representative of LinkedIn Mr Likhwa Ndlangamandla said simple things like a haircut matters to the pupils.
“Haircut is now expensive in town but I just decided to offer free haircut to the pupils. Yes, it might seem as a little thing but we gave what we can afford to give to the school,” said Mr Ndlangamandla.
Mrs Hadebe also applauded the First Lady Auxilia Mnangagwa for donating a fish pond to the school which is helping the school with some relish for boarders.
“We are very thankful to what the First Lady did to us by donating a fish pond. We wish to increase our garden, build a fowl run so that we can supplement the hands of those who are assisting us in difficult times like these,” said Ms Hadebe.
