adminThe security guards will be deployed in different beer gardens in the city to help curb violence, stock theft and all means of disorder after undertaking a three-month security operations course.
Speaking during the occasion, Ingwebu managing director Mr Reginald Ndlovu said the relationship between his company and ZRP stretched further and wider than the co-training of security personnel.
“Bulawayo Municipal Commercial Undertaking (BMCU) is an active member of several ZRP initiated programmes that include the business against crime,” said Mr Ndlovu.
He appealed to ZRP to help in reducing the number of unlicensed and illegal informal liquor traders who contributed nothing to the State coffers.
“Our appeal to ZRP is to continue working with our security personnel in bringing these culprits to book,” he said.
Speaking during the occasion, the ZRP Bulawayo acting training officer Chief Inspector Annanias Hove said the trained security officers were an extension of ZRP.
“These security officers are an extension of us in terms of crime reduction, and their discipline and training should be as good as ours,” said Chief Insp Hove.
The occasion was held at a beer garden in Nkulumane and the army band provided entertainment.
In an interview after the occasion, one of the best students Mr Malusi Fuyana said he was excited and would serve the company wholeheartedly.
“This course taught me a lot — from handling members of the public in a business environment to taking good care of myself. I will utilise the skills that I have acquired to make my city better and safe,” he said.
