Injiva in court for fraud

Court Reporter
AN injiva has appeared in court for allegedly swindling a Bulawayo man of $5 000 purporting that he would buy him a car. The court was told that Effiah Ncube (42), of B027 The Ridge in Hillbrow in Johannesburg, South Africa, received the money from Mr Bwanali Limami Ntaye of Nketa 6 to buy a car for him last year but did not forward it to him.

Ncube who also resides at House Number 21806 Pumula South in Bulawayo, pleaded not guilty to fraud when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Ms Gladmore Mushove on Thursday.

He was remanded out of custody to today for start of trial.  Ncube is on $200 bail. The State alleges that sometime in October last year Ncube and Mr Ntaye entered into an agreement whereby the former would import a Mazda pick-up truck on behalf of the latter.

The court was told that the complainant paid $5 000 and Ncube was supposed to deliver the vehicle in November of the same year.
It is alleged that after buying the car, Ncube took it to South Africa without the knowledge of Mr Ntaye.

The complainant tried to contact Ncube but without success and eventually reported the matter to the police leading to Ncube’s arrest.
Miss Tafadzwa Mutsambiwa is representing the State.
