Injiva kills wife, disappears

The incident happened on Tuesday at about 2.40am at Zvavamwe Village under Chief Nyamhondo.
Police identified the woman as Charity Moyo who was aged 26.

Acting police spokesperson for Midlands Assistant Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the man, Walker Legion Zimhondi (30), returned home from South Africa where he was working and started accusing his wife of infidelity.

“The woman was from the same village as the suspect. It is alleged that the suspect, Zimhondi, came home from South Africa where he was employed and started accusing his wife, Moyo of infidelity during his absence.

“A misunderstanding arose between the two and Zimhondi picked up a log and struck Moyo several times on the head resulting in her death,” said Asst Insp Mahoko.

He said the matter was reported to the police by the suspect’s mother.

He said police attended the scene and the body was taken to Musume Mission Hospital for a post-mortem.

“Investigations are still in progress and the suspect, Zimhondi, is still at large. We urge members of the public to consult or engage third parties like elders and counsellors when faced with problems to avoid such incidents. We are also appealing to members of the public who might have information leading to the arrest of the suspect to contact any nearest police station or use our suggestion boxes,” said Asst Insp  Mahoko.
