Inline Academy top women soccer league

INLINE Academy shot to the top of the Southern Region Women’s Football League table without kicking a ball on Saturday after their opponents Cowdray Park failed to turn up for the match.

Inline Academy now sit on nine points, one ahead of Hearts of Oak, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Street Set in a tense match.

A sizeable crowd witnessed the game, including Mighty Warriors gaffer Shadreck Mlauzi. Street Set got their goal from Faith Mpofu, while Hearts of Oak scored through Charity Ndiweni.

“It was a very tense game, but I am happy we managed to get a point. I, however, was not happy with the officiating of the game; next time we expect a better show from those tasked with handling the match,” said Street Set coach Gideon Sibanda.

In other matches, ZRP Bulawayo and Hwange Ladies played a goalless draw, while New Orleans handed Blackboots a 2-0 beating.

Results: New Orleans 2 – 0 Black Boots, ZRP Byo 0 – 0 Hwange Ladies, Hearts Of Oak 1 – 1 Street Set
