Speaking at the handover ceremony, Acting Officer Commanding Harare Province Assistant Commissioner Angeline Guvamombe, lauded the business community for partnering with the force in an endeavour to reduce crime.

“This event is a pure demonstration of a unity of purpose that creates positive results in crime reduction.
“I am delighted to mention that the province has managed to reduce crime by five percent during the first half of the year 2011 comparing to the same period in the year 2010. I am sure that this donation will go a long way towards the continued fight against crime,” she said.

Asst Comm Guvamombe urged the officers to use the bicycles effectively by patrolling their respective areas of policing.
She said the force would continue to encourage public participation in the fight against crime.
Innscor Africa group public relations executive Mr Musekiwa Kumbula said the donation helped to boost crime fighting.

“Today we have come to pledge and re-dedicate our commitment to working with ZRP in efforts to weed out crime. In doing this, we are motivated by two main reasons. Its part of our corporate social investment programmes and the other reason, equally compelling is that we have a stake in the creation of a crime-free environment as that protects our business and our investment,” he said.
Mr Kumbula urged people to partner with the force in fighting crime.
