ALTFIN Medical Aid Insurance company yesterday donated an ambulance worth more than $15,000 to the National University of Science and Technology (Nust).

The insurance firm made the donation to the institution’s Student Affairs Division after noticing that authorities were facing a torrid time ferrying sick students to hospital.

Altfin Operations Manager Innocent Machiwenyika said they donated the ambulance as a token of appreciation as Nust was one of its top clients.

“Nust is one of our top clients; as a result we decided to assist with the donation of an ambulance. This is part of our ongoing efforts to assist the university following a donation of $10,000 that we made. We hope this will assist towards the setting and construction of a university clinic,” said Machiwenyika.

Nust Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Samson Sibanda expressed gratitude following Altfin’s donation and said the ambulance will lessen challenges faced by the institution in handling student issues.

“We’re very grateful and feel honoured by this gesture shown by Altfin. This ambulance will help us in ferrying students to the clinic and hospital,” said Professor Sibanda.

The event was attended by Acting Dean of Students Stylish Magida, heads of various departments and members of the students’ representative body.
