He succeeded on his mission on the night of the following day when he got into a room where she was sleeping and raped her once.
The man pleaded guilty to rape and was sentenced to 15 years in prison of which two years were conditionally suspended for five years.
Asked why he committed the offence, the man said his wife is away in Jambezi and most of the women in the area where he was employed are married.
He said he was driven by a craving to be intimate with a woman hence his decision to sexually abuse the girl.
Mrs Mthombeni, who is in Bulawayo to finish her partly heard cases, said had it not been for the fact that the man pleaded guilty and did not waste the court’s time, she would have sentenced him to 20 years given the age difference.
The offence of the sexual abuse came to light on 14 November after one of the teachers at the school attended by the girl noticed that she had difficulties in walking.
The girl on being questioned narrated her ordeal leading to a report being made to the police leading to the man’s arrest.
Mr Tinashe Dzipe prosecuted.
