Internet fault hits BCC, disrupts services

AN internet fault has reportedly disrupted business operations with the Bulawayo City Council, which has seen most of its web-dependent services going offline since Monday.

In a statement, Bulawayo Town Clerk, Mr Christopher Dube, revealed that some of the services that have been affected by the fault include the email system, Customer Contact Centre and the local authority’s website.

“The City of Bulawayo would like to advise members of the public of a fault which has occurred on our internet service system affecting business operations,” reads the statement. “The fault occurred on Monday, 14 July 2025 and affects the City of Bulawayo email system, Customer Contact Centre, website and other internet-dependent systems.”

Mr Dube revealed that services are expected to be restored by Saturday.

“The City of Bulawayo understands the importance of reliable internet service and efforts are being made to attend to the technical failure as soon as possible. Services are expected to be restored by Saturday, 19th July 2025.”

In the meantime, residents are encouraged to visit the Municipal Revenue Offices for transactions and bill payments.
