INTWASA Festival is inviting those who feel they have what it takes to perform/exhibit at the art and culture event to submit their works for consideration.
This year’s edition which is the 19th, will run from September 26 to 30. It will run under the theme, “Imagine it! Experience it!” and will be spread around venues which include Bulawayo Theatre, National Art Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo, City Hall Car Park, Academy of Music and the Bulawayo Public Library.
Applications are open till Saturday.
“Intwasa is looking for fresh, original, energetic and highly quality work to showcase at the 2023 edition of the festival. Those that want to partake in this event should send expressions of interest including a detailed profile together with supporting material or links to previous work via email by 22 July,” event organisers said in a statement.
Festival director, Raisedon Baya Raisedon Baya told Chronicle Showbiz that this year’s theme is meant to allow creatives to imagine and experience their craft.
“The arts are about two things which are imagination and experiences. This is what we want to work on and deliver, not just this year, but in the next three years. This is what informs the three-year strategic plan. Promoting imagination, imaginative storytelling and both audience and artists’ experiences,” he said.
Confirmed events thus far include the Vusa Mkhaya experience which will take place on September 28.
Theatre lovers will also be in for a treat as the programme will offer “a total theatre experience for both the artist and spectator as the festival is about imagining and experiencing life through theatre.”
