Organisers of the Intwasa Arts Festival koBulawayo are calling on fashion designers to submit their entries to be part of the Intwasa Fashion Show.

The fashion show which was introduced last year will be held again this year by public demand. It will run concurrently with the festival running from September 21 to 26 under the theme: ‘My Intwasa, Your Intwasa, Our Intwasa’.

One of the organisers of the fashion show, designer, Gilmore “Tee” Moyo said interested designers needed to submit their entries before April 30.

“This is a chance for local designers to make a name and show the capacity to take up fashion as a business and not a hobby. Designers have to submit their applications with their portfolio which will justify why they’ve to be part of Intwasa Fashion Show 2015,” Gilmore Tee said.

Application forms can be accessed at the Intwasa offices at Treger House in Bulawayo or download them on the Intwasa website, www.intwasa.org.

Gilmore Tee said Intwasa would be partnering Edgars again this year, in a move meant to afford the designers a chance to interact with professionals.

“We’ll be partnering Edgars again this year. There’ll be representatives from the clothing industry who’ll be there to share insight on what the industry is all about.

“Last year four designers were selected for attachment at Edgars to gain experience. They’ve grown significantly since then and are managing to make a living from their work,” Gilmore Tee said.

He also urged models to take advantage of the fashion show so as to boost their careers.

“Models this year will be a mixture of public personalities, professional and the ones we’ll scout for who’ll include plus size individuals.

“Plus size models should feel free to come and register because as much as we want to uphold international standards of slim models we’ve to be relevant to our people.”
