Investors flock to Manhize

MANY local and foreign investors are now interested in investing in the integrated industrial park to be established by the Dinson Iron and Steel Company in Manhize, near Mvuma.

The company started production in the first phase last week and the target is to be a US$5 billion industry and a critical component on the achievement of Vision 2030.

In his presentation during a tour of the company on Thursday by Mines and Mining Development Minister Winston Chitando, Disco projects manager at Manhize Mr Wilfred Motsi said local and foreign companies have expressed interest in investing in the industrial park.

“And already, we have potential investors who have indicated that they want to come and invest, local ones, in our industrial park. We have the likes of AVM which actually indicated that they are even keen to use our workshop to assemble buses, those rural buses.

“They want steel. They use about three tonnes of steel to produce each of those buses, and we are producing it here. We also have Beta Bricks, they also indicated their interest to invest here and others,” he said.

He said most of the components being used at the US$1,5 billion plant were being produced on site by Chinese engineers that were also imparting their knowledge and skills to locals.

Mr Motsi also said Zesa Holdings had also shown interest in the wire arcs they will produce in later phases that could be used for electricity transmission.

He also said other Chinese companies had also shown interest to invest at Manhize.
