Invictus assembles drilling equipment

Invictus Energy, which is prospecting for oil and gas deposits in Muzarabani has raised the Exalo Rig 202 mast and substructure at the site, ahead of the commencement of drilling at its Mukuyu-1 well later this month.

This is in line with Invictus Energy’s target to start exploration drilling this August with initial estimates showing there could be large deposits of gas condensate in Muzarabani.

Gas condensate in its various states produces oil and natural gas and their discovery signals a major breakthrough in the country’s energy needs.

In a brief statement on Twitter Wednesday night, Invictus Energy said preparations were going as planned.

“Exalo Rig 202 mast and substructure has been raised as we continue preparations ahead of the spud of our Mukuyu-1 well targeting 20 Tcf + 845 million barrels of conventional gas condensate,” reads the statement.

The Mukuyu-1 well was recently classified as one of the “key wells” that will help Africa return to high-impact exploration status this year by the Westwood Global Energy Group.
