Invitation to Dance set for October

The event, to be held on the afternoon of 6 October, will be in celebration of the urban dance culture in the city while also aiming to divert the attention of youths from destructive activities.

One of the organisers of the event, Vusumuzi Maphosa, better known as DJ Fivestar, said the event was meant to give a chance to the youth of Bulawayo to express themselves through dance and avoid indulging in activities like alcohol and drug abuse and violence.

“We organised this concert to get young people out of trouble which is why the event will be held in the afternoon. We are making an event which makes it possible for people of all ages to attend,” said DJ Fivestar.

He said dance would not be the only discipline that the concert would showcase as the spotlight would also be on other forms of youth entertainment as well, with rap and singing at the forefront.

“We are including other disciplines such as deejaying.

We are doing so as a way of interacting with the crowd because this show is not merely about people coming to watch but giving them a chance to dance as well,” said DJ Fivestar.

Various prizes will be up for grabs at the event with winners being afforded a chance to take home prizes which include T-shirts and hampers.

“We decided to put an incentive for those taking part in the concert hence winners of the various competitions we shall be having on the day of the event will be rewarded accordingly,” he said.

He said the event is self-funded although they were appealing to the corporate world to come in and assist as it is an initiative meant to help the city’s youth realise their dreams.

“I appeal to the corporate world to support the youth of Zimbabwe because such initiatives are meant to empower them by giving them the necessary tools to fulfill their ambitions, “said DJ Fivestar

Performers at the event will include Anti-virus dance crew, Kasi Lunatics, H3 and Break Equation while advance tickets are available at Cards and Gifts priced at $3.

DJ Fivestar promised a memorable event and appealed to fans to come in their numbers to witness the hip hop dance extravaganza.
