A 25-YEAR-OLD man from Inyathi in Bubi District who allegedly ganged up with two accomplices, still at large and attacked their neighbour using a machete, an axe and logs following an undisclosed dispute, has appeared in court.

Lenson Sibanda of Village 6, Mtshunga Siganda area appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Ms Sibonginkosi Mnkandla facing an attempted murder charge. He was remanded in custody to September 20.

Prosecuting, Mrs Tsungai Mutapi told the court that on March 5, Sibanda allegedly teamed up with his two friends, Pharu Dawu and Mthokozisi Gwayi, who are still at large and attacked the complainant, Mr Dumisani Ndlovu at Britwell Village in Inyathi area.

“The accused and his accomplices struck the complainant twice on the head with an axe, twice on the back with a machete, and several time on the hands and ribs with a wooden log,” she said.

In his testimony, the complainant said Sibanda and his two friends attacked him for no apparent reason.
Sibanda, in his defence, argued that he only got involved in the fight when Ndlovu tried to axe one of his workmates during a fight.

“He (complainant) wanted to axe my colleague,” the accused told the court.
