A 23-YEAR-OLD Inyathi man has been remanded in custody on allegations of aggravated indecent assault and theft, following a dramatic late-night attack at Kennilworth.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), Elias Mpofu appeared before the Tredgold Magistrates Court and was denied bail. He will return to court on 18 September.
“On August 31, around 8PM, the accused forced open the complainant’s door,” read the NPAZ statement. “While inside, he took two cellphones and cash amounting to USD$600. He then tied the complainant’s hands, violated her privacy, and fled the scene.”
Authorities said the stolen property, valued at US$820, was later recovered.
The NPAZ stressed its firm stance against sexual violence and theft, vowing to push for justice in this case.
“We continue to stand by our commitment of combating crime and corruption,” the statement read.
