The cultural centre of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran has extended its heartfelt congratulations to the people and Government of Zimbabwe on the occasion of Heroes Day 2025, saluting the nation’s sacrifices in the quest for total independence.
In its congratulatory message, the centre paid tribute to Zimbabwe’s heroes and Defence Forces, honouring their sacrifices and bravery in securing the country’s freedom and sovereignty, and pledged to strengthen cultural ties between Iran and Zimbabwe in support of the country’s Vision 2030.
Cultural counsellor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr Hamid Bakhtiyar, said Iran stands in solidarity with the living and departed martyrs, men and women who selflessly gave their lives to secure the freedom of present and future generations.
“We pay tribute to the Gallant Defence Forces who have vigilantly safeguarded the torch lit by the heroes of the liberation struggle,” he said.
“From the battlefields of the independence war to the frontiers of peace, they have remained an unshakable shield defending Zimbabwe’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
Mr Bakhtiyar emphasised the significant sacrifices made by Zimbabwe’s heroes, which ultimately led to the country’s independence in 1980.
“Though their sacrifices were immense, they became the seeds from which the harvest of independence was reaped in 1980.”
In a gesture of solidarity, Mr Bakhtiyar pledged to strengthen cultural ties between Iran and Zimbabwe in support of the latter’s Vision 2030, emphasising the importance of hard work, innovation, and collaboration in achieving prosperity.
“We believe that the path to a prosperous Zimbabwe is paved with hard work, innovation, and collaboration,” he said.
“To the living heroes and the gallant sons and daughters of Zimbabwe, under the leadership of His Excellency Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, we encourage the continued pursuit of complete economic independence, in honour of the legacy of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.”
