Renowned Iranian medical expert and dermatologist, Professor Seyed Nasser Emadi, has expressed interest in setting up a specialised dermatology clinic in Bulawayo.
He is set to travel to Zimbabwe in the next two months to finalise and set up modalities for the clinic.
Prof Emadi’s interest comes on the back of a successful Iran-Africa International Economic Conference where Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga led Zimbabwe’s delegation.
Apart from Prof Emadi, there was also interest from the Iran Consortium of Dialysis (IRD) Group to invest in Zimbabwe, in a development that will boost the country’s quest for universal health coverage in line with the national health development strategy as espoused by President Mnangagwa.
Prof Emadi, who has extensive experience in working in Africa, was part of a team of 11 medical experts that was in Zimbabwe last year and did specialist work in the country’s hospitals.
Zimbabwe has already shown interest in tapping from Iran success stories in medical equipment, medical drugs and related consumables, which has seen them locally manufacturing over 95 percent of all their country’s medical requirements.
Speaking to journalists, Prof Emadi said he was coming to Zimbabwe under a new arrangement of providing dermatology services in Bulawayo as well as training doctors in dermatology.
