AS part of their fundraising activities to raise money for palliative care and bereavement services in Zimbabwe, Island Hospice and Healthcare will host a wellness and fitness day on 1 June at Hartsfield Stadium in Bulawayo.
Island Hospice and Healthcare is a centre for patients with life-threatening illnesses like cancer, among many others. There are a number of activities lined up for the event that entail zumba and aerobics, pizza family fun run, kiddo land, raffle draw and family games.
Bulawayo Branch Co-ordinator Siphathisiwe Ncube said their goal is to remind communities of the importance of healthy lifestyles.
“Exercise is at the heart of preventing any form of illness and we believe that prevention is better than cure. The event is an opportunity to educate communities on the services that are offered by the organisation,” she said.
Ncube stated that the event is a fundraiser for people with chronic illnesses.
“Chronic illnesses have opened different vulnerability gaps in their families, including trauma faced by children and young people after losing their caregivers. The event is aimed at promoting awareness and fundraising for people with chronic illnesses,” said Ncube.
